I shot a family in my studio, removed the background and droped in an outdoor shot of a pool & patio on another layer.
It looks great, very realistic. I want to add a slight shadow behind the family, like a shadow caused by the sun. I want the shadow to fall on the outdoor patio layer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try the following:
select the family and open a blank layer below the family layer, fill the selection with black. now you have a shadow that you can manipulate witht he transform or distort tool...place the shadow in a realistic place then, add a blur..might have to lower opacity..
Good luck,
Lasa
