Hi,
Please stick with me on this one as i am really stuck here, i create a new text layer, and write in the date of when my photograph was taken (this is my text layer), then i take the text and move it to the bottom right hand corner of the image (background layer), to a precise location (i.e. 400mm horizontal and 268mm vertical using the ruler guide). The reason why I do this is so each time I print of a photograph the date is at the same location on the image. I normally go through about 200 images a week, say the least it is repetive re-typing the same date, font size colour etc onto everyone of them.

So here is my question, how can I save the vector layer with my text on it with the precise location ( i.e the bottom right hand corner), so when i copy and paste the text layert onto a new image it will go straight onto the image with the same text and at the same precise location? thankyou for being patient....... Josel

Does Drag-n-Drop the text layer to the new file while holding the shift key work for you?
Plus you could record an action to automate the whole process.

And welcome to the forum.

cbadland, I don't know if that solves the issue for Josel but I definetly found immediate use for it...very nice.
Thanks,

Yeah, it's a cool feature. But it only works going between documents of the same size. If you shift+drag+drop into a file of a different size, it will drop whatever you are dragging into the center of the target document.

Start recording an action. Create your text and drag it and place it exactly where you want it to be on that image. Press enter on the num pad to stop recording your action. Open up another image that needs the date and play that action to test to make sure it works for you.

I have done the same thing that you are talking about using an action, and it works great. Only down fall is that you'll have to change the date every day. I can't remember if you can change the date within the actions pallette or not, you'll have to check.

stev'e almost completely right, but I've found that the location of the layer must be measured from top left, so if you have a samll image it'll be off the pic and if you have a larger image it'll closer to the center.
