Don't worry about it, dude. The tough thing about the Internet is that we can't see each other's faces and hear each other's voices, so it becomes much harder to guess how other people are feeling. I misinterpreted your response. It's all cool.
You can work with whatever size you want. It's fine to work with images at the size you're currently using. Just use bigger values for Gaussian Blur. Or use Image>Image Size to make the image smaller. 640x480 is fine. Any size you want is fine. Just make sure that you use bigger blur values for bigger images. That should clear up the problem.
If you're seeing the glow, but it looks too faint, try using Image>Adjustments>Levels to brighten up the glow layer. I often have to do that. _________________ Interested in showcasing your special effects or learning some new ones from the masters? Check out PSFX! |

and also i saw the smallest blue around the edges. i think it was the blue for the core though.
if i sent u an image of a stick could you do the lghtsaber effect to it? i would like to see what i am striving for, i would like a yellow beam...but if you can't blue is totally fine.
the pic is at http://www.megaupload.com/?d=318KVK2O
i know it is dumb but i cant put a pic of me on the web my mom doesnt allow me and we fight all the time about it ha ha
i know it is a lame handle but live with it. i used paint to do it cuz i dont have photoshop on the comp i am on.

That is really cool, I really like that glow effect on the face and even more on the eyes. Thats what i want to work on. Oh about the saber base one distance...Im not really sure what to do. Heres kinda what i came up with. I prolly made the core to fat but I was thinking it would be larger up close but looking at your anakin lightsabre image i guess not.

Thanks! Glad you like it. I kind of cheated to make the glow--I mean, I didn't brush it in. I was using the Channel palette for something when I accidentally clicked the Blue channel. The grayscale channel appeared, and everything was very dark except the side of Anakin's face and eyes, plus the lightsaber itself. This happened because the rest of the image had very little blue in it. It gave me an automatic selection for reflections. So I created a new black layer set to Color Dodge or Linear Dodge, and filled in that channel's contents with blue. A little tweaking, and voila--perfect reflections! Unfortunately, that technique usually won't work.
Star Wars Man, here's your photo with both yellow and blue saber effects added. I didn't add flicker, since it usually makes still pictures look worse. And listen to your mom--that's a good policy, not broadcasting your photos over the Internet. There are sickos out there... _________________ Interested in showcasing your special effects or learning some new ones from the masters? Check out PSFX! |
