I've used Adobe products since photoshop 5, but never encountered anything like this.
For some reason, when I load Photoshop CS2, the tools occasionally become unusuable. What I mean is, even if I select say the zoom tool, there is a grey arrow over the image. If I select the black arrow or magic wand, there is a grey arrow over the image (and anywhere else for that matter around the image). I've tried everything from converting jpegs to psd's (just editing the main layer on the jpeg to "layer 0"), opening/closing the image file, etc.
Has anyone EVER experienced anything like this? Let me know if I need to provide more detail for a better answer.
Thanks

I have encountered something similar to that, but it was a while ago. I could select the tools, but once I moved the cursor over the image, it greyed out and I couldn't do anything. Come to find out, the I was working with images that were 16 bits/channel instead of 8 bits/channel. I converted my images to 8 bits/channel (Image>Mode>8 Bits/channel), then they were fine. Hope this solves your problems. _________________ All gave some, some gave all.....Lest we forget that war produces veterans, wounded both mentally and physically, and it is our job to help them now, as they have already helped us all in ways we will never know, and in ways that we take for granted every day.
Just an update, the problem still occurs, and the images are already 8bits/channel. I tried changing that around but wasn't successful.
Just to re-specify, my cursor isn't really greyed out when moving it over the picture, rather, it's just staying the shape as the regular windows cursor (which happens to be grey). I've tried reinstallations and everything, but it seems to be a dll or driver that I can't find. anyone else have any suggestions?
