I am trying to use Photoshop to create some simple maps for a MUD. I want to create some different colored blocks to represent the rooms. Is there a way that I can create the "rooms" (blocks) and then use them in another drawing? In other words, can I define a shape and save it to be used later?

Well, if you make the shape on its own layer, and sae whatever file that layer is in as a .psd, then if you want it again, open the file its saved in, aswell as the fileyou want it in, and select the layer you want, then with both documents open, select the move tool (V) and drag the image you want (with the layer your thing is on selected) to the other image, and itll appear as a new layer, on your new image _________________ www.jerseyhacker.co.uk

You can also make a brush out of the shape...then you can use the shape as a stamp with any color you want...edit / define brush preset,
Now you can chose the brush pallet.
or you can save a custom shape:
make you black box, select it with the magic wand, right click..make working path...once a path...go to edit / define custom shape.
now you can chose the shape from the custom shape tools.
