|
|
Photoshop CS slows down to a snail's pace when using the type tool. System resources go from like 3% up to 50-60% just by clicking the type tool!
Recently, I had paid like $6 for a font zip with a ton of fonts in it. (I have just over 5100 fonts ) I think that may have been the start of my problems!
So, I am looking for suggestions on what to do. I can't afford to pay big bugs for that font Suitcase thing......but I need something. Is there a way to just reset my fonts back to what they were before I installed all those fonts? I don't know. I just have too many fonts installed to go through them one by one. I use fonts on occasion, but not extensively.
I am truly unfamiliar with how fonts work, types of fonts, etc.
Thanks for any direction, my head is spinning!
Jenn

Can you afford any more RAM? as it would not only resolve that problem, but would massively increase the performance of you pc in general, to stop things like this happening again _________________ www.jerseyhacker.co.uk

5100 fonts? Yes, you need a good font manager.
Also, try closing the Info Palette when using the type tool… see if that makes any difference. |

Well, we just increased the RAM to 2GB. The computer is now maxed out on ram. |

I'll try that. Most of the fonts I do not even like, but there are just to many of them to sort through one by one! Do you know of a way to reset the fonts to what they were before I installed that font package?
Thanks

Well, it system restore on, cos system restore tracks everything you do to your hard drive, and can reset back to any point in time, aslong as you have system restore on, but problem is, if you do reset back to before you installed the fonts, then everythign youve done since you installed the fonts will be lost, alternatively, i could try and .rar my fonts, i have about 400, and send them to you, so at least you only have the good ones, aswell as the originals _________________ www.jerseyhacker.co.uk

The easiest way is to ask a friend with xp (or whatever) and copy their font folder. Wayne |
