|
|
Hi All,
I've been searching in vain for a quick way to 'toggle' to view a snapshot of a previous set of layers in CS/CS2. I'm a little leery of the snapshot function as bit of overkill, but even if that's the way to go, I can't find a way to *toggle* this view on/off.
This wish comes up a lot for me - I would especially like this when painting on a new layer, *over* a previous one, but be able to quickly switch the painting layer off and refer to a layer underneath.
After Effects has a great snapshot function like this built in (SHIFT-F5, F6, etc.) to compare effects. Can anyone explain a way to do this in photoshop? It would be extremely helpful.
Thanks for the help!

to the left of each layer is a little box that may or may not have an eye symbol in it. If the eye is there, the layer is on. if the eye is not there, the layer is not on. Simply click the eye box to toggle a layer on or off.
As for effects, adjustment layers are turned on and off the same way. You can see I've got some sdjustment layers close to the bottom of my stack. the little arrows indicate that they only efect one layer underneath them.

forgot to mention something: if a layer is off, it is not visible and the layer underneath wil show through. it's the same as having nothing on the ayer, ot 0% opacity. You can adjust the opacity more accurately with the transparency slider at the top of the laye palette.
