In that case, I'll only comment on the rings. Looks pretty good. I'd suggest a little less noise. When you look at real planetary rings, there's just a subtle grainy feel. The chunks that make up the rings are too distant and small to be individually visible; it's area-specific variations that create the visible graininess. Also, moons in nearby orbits can gravitationally affect the rings, creating knotted areas.
Anyway, I like this direction you're going. My only real advice (about the rings) is to cut back on the noise, and perhaps use a little less red. Good job! _________________ Interested in showcasing your special effects or learning some new ones from the masters? Check out PSFX! |

Its really good, yes, reduce the noise, its abit over the top, but apart from that its nice, and you have the shape just right aswell, good work! _________________ www.jerseyhacker.co.uk

looks pretty darn good. the noise is a cool effect, but less of it would make the rings look more realistic. nice work _________________ - Does your God come in a capsule to sedate you? |

I really like the rings and probably would leave the noise up that high because although not entirely realistic it is hard to say what magnification you are under and so I think that it can be accepted as is. My major problem is that if you carefully at the way the ring bends the perspective seems to be off. It may just be because of the 2D planet, but I do not think so. The ring gets too close to the planet when it is closest toward the viewer. It should be almost in the user's face from that perspective.
My advice would be to change the perspective so that it gets closer to the viewer and then emphasize the detail in the rocks more when it is closer and then less so on the farther away ring bits. |
