I have seen this question, but am unable to make the answers work for me. I have Photoshop 6.0 and all I want to learn right now is how do I take an image and make a tiled background with it? Please answer in the easiest way possible, I have trouble even finding the tools in photoshop. I can use Picture it and tile very slowly myself piece by piece, but I am sure that there is a simple way to push a button and have it done for me with photoshop. School is starting soon and I am taking some calsses next semester that should help me, but please help me with this now. Thanks a lot, you can email me directly if you want at rabbitseffort@yahoo.com _________________ Be the change you wish to see in the world! |

Ok heres how to do it, open your pic, then make a copy (close the original) then image/image size and resize it to about 150 pixels across the long side. now go to edit/define pattern (that makes your pic a pattern) now open your new image. Image/new and type in the size you need, then go to edit/fill and from the drop down box select pattern and choose your pic and click ok. you may have to ajust the size of your photo (the start image) to get it to look right for the effect you want. Right on, thanks, that worked, I understood it! Now maybe I can get help with my next question...lets say that I now have my tiled background and I want to use another image and have the tiled background. I know it will have something to do with opacity of the main image that I want to overlay on the tiled background. But I don't know how to put the image I want over the new background I just made. I want to be able to see thru the image I put on top of the tiles but also I want to be able to see the tiles and the new image too with a good deal of clarity if possible.
I hope this makes sense and that someone can give me an easy way to learn how to merge my two imges, I have no idea how to use the layer tools.
Thanks a lot! _________________ Be the change you wish to see in the world! |

If I understand this correctly, you want the new image on top semi see through? thats easy, after making your background, click the move tool and with both pics open on screen, left click on the other pic (not the background) and holding click drag it on top of your background, now on the layers palette slide the opacity slider untill you can see through it. If you want to save as a jpeg you have to flatten the layers first (layers/flatten) Wayne |
