everytime I use the extract tool to cut out I seem to have the backround still in it,how do I correct this

Try using a smaller brush in extract.
|

Yes try a smaller brush, and check it in preview before you finish, you can clean it up in there. I personaly use the eraser tool for a final clean up. Wayne

ok I used a smaller brush and it didn't change on that original pic. So I tried on this one,similar results. Is my problem somewhere in the settings or pressure. Thanks for the help

It takes a little time and patience. Use the Clean-Up and Edge tools in Extract. There is no magic tool to pull out a subject from a cluttered background. You could also do this manually using a layer mask and a paint or pen tool.

I know  I usually use the poly lasso for cut outs,I just want to learn other methods. I just dont understand if I have traced it good,and hit the paint bucket to fill the selection ,why does it leave edges like that,when I had it right?It's not like I am tracing it sloppy

Are you painting to include both the edge of the model and the background?
PS needs pixel info from both to extract.

I tried extracting everything, around the model and the backround. It worked great around her but their was still much of the backround,that was half transparent with the backround bleeding through

I have found the Extract tool not all that good, however you might try Corel Knockout which seems to work a lot better

If you really need to cut something out, although you want to learn other merthodas, if its important, use the polygonal lasso tool, ive never had an in-satisfactory result from using the poly lasoo, aslogn as i spend a little time on it, rather than being sloppy
