Hey all,

This is gonna be hard to explain. I am currently into space art in a big way and I am looking to basically create a metal planet.

I am looking to make a texture that I can spherize that when done will look like the planet is made of metal panels with deep channels in the surface....................as i said this is hard to explain.

Think of the flight to the center of the death star in the star wars movie, i want evenly spaced straight gorges in the planets surface, with shadows and needless to say to be able to show the metal texture in the gorges.

I know this probably makes no sense, and I have no idea how to do it myself so I am hoping there is somebody out there who can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

I understand what you mean, and i have a video tutorial somewhere on creating metal tiles, which i suppose you could then spherizre and add shadows etc, might not be exactly what you want, but you could edit it to be what you want, ill try and dig it out and host it somewhere, but im not promising anything!
