hello,

i have a jpeg image that i prepared in photoshop that i am wanting to use for a header. Problem is that even though the image is placed on a transparent background and has had its corners erased - the background and corners show up as white in a browser. I tried png but the file size is too big and in internet explorer the border was still there but grey. i tried gif but where i have erased the corners it makes the erased bits white. any one able to help please? i want the erased borders and the transparent background to be seen as they are in photoshop - ie i want them to be transparent - what do i have to do?

thankyou :)

You are using Save for Web as gif with Transparency checked and proper matte color chosen?

ok think i figured it out

not as nice as jpeg but...

the problem was i wasnt using a standard eraser on the corners, i used the standard eraser put it on a transparent background, saved as transparent gif, and it worked the best that i think it will, shame image quality isnt as good as jpeg or png even though file size is bigger...

hope that helps..

Here's the quick lowdown on web image formats. The two main competitors are jpg and gif. On the one hand, jpgs reduce the image quality but do not reduce the number of colors; they don't allow transparency or animation. On the other hand, gifs reduce the image quality just by limiting the number of colors used; they DO allow transparency and animation.

Make sense?
