I understand. I've always said that the reason most people try Illustrator for 15 minutes and give up on it is that they were expecting something analogous to drawing, whereas it's more like working with scissors, glue and construction paper.
Anyway, very impressive that you're able to achieve effects like that in Photoshop. I'm a big fan of Giger too. I can see the influence, though obviously you're not anywhere close to as dark as he is, at least from the stuff you've posted. I guess if you had anything really Giger-influenced, you couldn't post it on a PG-rated site like this anyway. :-)

Precisely, I actually use Illustrator almost as much as PS for print projects. It is 'cut and paste' very mechanical. Not near as fluid as PS, which is why I use PS to illustrate. My interpretation of 'Gigerish' images is sort of 'what if'.
What if I could clarify and delineate his technique. So that's what I try to do.
I have come up with a way to bring 'most' ps layer effects into Illustrator. I'll be posting some examples soon. _________________ there is no finish line
