These are very, very nice. Any particular reason you choose to use Photoshop instead of Illustrator, though? I always find it frustrating to try to illustrate in Photoshop.

Awesome art man!
What was the inspiration for the designs?

of course, I use illustrator for the majority of work I do for print. Photoshop allows me to "work as trained" so to speak. I've been an illustrator most of my life, I'm 64. Most of that time I worked with a Paasche Brush and friskett.
Working in photoshop, with the layers and all, is most like the airbrush. Same mindset, same approach to an illustration. The subject matter mostly is a form of doodling for me. It allows me to keep an edge up on you younger people. Plus I tend to like the art of Giger and Franzetta. I also vowed to be able to duplicate the look of a 3d app in PS. I think I pulled it off

It is definitely high quality art! You have me by a few years, and the experience is very evident. Thanks for sharing your skills.

Well I'm an old stager myself (70) coming from the old graphics arts industry and being involved in most facets of the printing industry form photo-engraving to litho printing and most of the stuff in between.
Here is a doodle created in 3dmax.

Good to know that I'm not the only 'ancient marineer' here. (I guess)
I too have an extensive printing background. Ended up in pre-press (DTP)
I baled when I realized that I was working harder fixing files for print than the "artist" was who built the files. Taught me the apps though. Most of my Photoshop training came from tearing apart the designers native files to make them work for the rip. Same with Illustrator, Quark and In Design. I have 3dsm, can't make heads or tails of it. I actually prefer the look of the PS stuff. I'll be posting more as time goes by.
