Don't know the name!!??

Hi everyone:
I am a newbie to Photoshop and I have tried to do this on my own and used the HELP section of the software but no luck!
How do I get rid of some people in a particular photo? The photo was taken with a 35mm camera so I guess needs to be scaned first. There are a couple that I would like to take out of my photo but don't know how? Is there a tutorial or something I can get refered to?

Convert the background layer to layer by double clicking on it first because if is not editable=>Select pen tool =>Start tracing edges of the couple => then go to paths palatte(windows-path)=>From the menu select make selection =>Select menu => Inverse and delete.

There a a few different ways of doing it, but it depends on the photo, do you want to keep the people from the photo and put them onto a new background, or are you trying to remove unwanted people in a photo? it would help if you scan the pic and show us. Wayne

Swanseanmale47, here is a picture that I scanned. For example, I want to remove the man in the picture.

Every picture is different and therefore has its own difficulties to take into consideration. In this case, the background shouldn't be too difficult to remove--relatively speaking. If you've never used the Clone Stamp tool before, it very well may be a nightmare.

The hard part is that only one of the woman's arms is showing. When you remove the man, how will you replace that arm? Using a modified copy of her left arm? There are a number of ways to do this, but you have to be careful if you want it to be realistic. Make sure to crop afterwards, too.

The picture was an example because I couldn't find the one I actually wanted to do. However, it is a start for me.
I still don't know how to do it. Could you refer me to a tutorial or something?

Heres how I would do it.

First make a duplicate of the original (image/duplicate) then crop out as much as you can.
second use the extract tool to cut out the lady (filter/extract) or you could use the lassoo tool.
third clean up the edges, using the eraser tool.
fourth blur the edges slightly with the blur tool.
fifth make you background to suit (here I used filter/render clouds) and blured it slightly, then added the hot spot (filter/render/lighting effects omni.
sixth using the move tool left click on the lady and drag her onto the background.

It's that easy, I added a bit of grain to the background as the original has some grain showing (filter/noise/add noise)

Thank you. It is great. I haven't got a chance to try it since my photoshop is not working correctly at this moment. I need to reinstall, I guess!!!
Hopefully, I can follow your instructions and do a photo like you did. I will post my questions, if any.
