IMHO that is a limiting and cumbersome workflow and is not one recommended by Adobe. (Of course I’m a photographer, everything is RGB to me ;) )

What exactly is the benefit? Control (cmd) Y lets you easily preview CMYK throughout the creation process (keep it on the whole time!) yet you retain a wider gamut RGB file in case the work needs to be repurposed.
