Cant select Layer style settings

When I select a Layer, and then go to Layer Style -> Style settings that option is greyed out. I tried everything but it's always greyed out. Help Frown

Are you on the background layer?

Are you in RGB mode and 8bit editing?

Sure someone here has the knowledge to make an educated guess or will know, but if you can a screenshot would probably help enormously.

My guess also: Background or Locked layer.
