As a daily computer user, I have been experiencing eye strain of late. Even though I lower the screen brightness right down to dull, so that you can barely see the screen, I still get watery eyes, slight headaches and prickling eyes.
I have head that prolonged computer use can cause glaucoma. Is this true? I hope not, as I love using my computer.
Do any of youse get these same symptoms? Would I need to get a computer screen, even though I have turned the screen brightness down?
Please advise me, as this problem is causing me intense worry.
i don't know what it all can cause, but i know it's not healthy, not for the eyes nor for the brain, and although bad screen quality will make it worse i don't think that this can be avoided, well if you don't sit in front of a computer it can!
btw: putting down the brightness is just as bad as setting it to bright!
but you gotta make sure you take regular breaks, step outside or so,
make sure take enough distance from your screen! cause i tend to get a little closer every minute, until i find myself with my nose sticking on the screen(joke)
if you are experiancing serious trouble with this meaby you should visit a doctor, donnow

Thanks for the advice. Well, I never knew that turning down the brightness is just as bad as having it high! Will have to get that screen.
My monitor is a 19" one, so maybe that is partly conducive to my irritated eyes.

I work on a dual 19" monitor setup, and I experience the same thing from time to time. One thing that has helped me a lot is I have trained myself to blink regularly while working on the computer. If you work on the computer for a while and find yourself just staring in to the ominous blue glow, blink a few times. It really does help, but you need to blink regularly. Most people don't even realize that they hardly ever blink while looking at the monitor.
Even if prolonged monitor usage can cause glaucoma, think about how many avid computer users there are in the world and then think of how many cases of CRT related diseases you've heard of. Definately not something to be worried about. _________________ Best Regards,

You go can go to an Ophthalmologist and get computer glasses. I wear them and naturally they help a lot, but if you still stare at a screen for long hours you’ll probably still get some discomfort. They actually have an acronym for the eye strain its some kind of syndrome. Nonetheless you can Google Computer Eye strain and come up with some good information.
