Pls help me out wif my virgin post. Searched for similar threads but no luck. Using a pic that I captured using virtualdub from a video file. Cropped that image to use as an avatar pic. Problem is, the forums only allow 120x120 pixels and 10kb whichever is lower. I cropped and scaled down the image to 120pixels there about, but the file size is always like 20+kb. Anyway to make it smaller? I've tried scaling it down to even 50x50 but still more than 10kb. I tried reducing the quality but no luck too.
Any help would be great! Thx.

Are you using the 'save to web' feature? That can really help.

Here's an article on using gif vs jpeg http://www.siriusweb.com/tutorials/gifvsjpg/

Good Luck,

good article willmore. definitely us the Save to Web option in there you can select either JPG for GIF format and preview the image at different compressions on the fly. Just make sure you have the '2up' tab clicked so you can see your preview.

ikileo, the 'save for web' feature is part of photoshop cs. save as to you desktop from your browser then open it in photoshop and size as needed. Then in the photoshop file menu, choose 'save for web'. make sure you're in 2-up or 4-up and play around with the options on the right side.

good luck
