Hello,
I appologize if this question has been posted already, but I wasn't sure what exactly to look for in reference.
Alright, I've been working in Photoshop for a couple years now, primarily working with photographs and graphic design elements for print. So I've never really ventured outside of RAW, JPEG, .PSD, and TIFF files for the import and export of my files. I'm now posting more images to the web, coming across different file types, and beginning to pick up some code along the way, nothing major though...I still know next to nothing with regard to images for the web.
Okay, what I'd like to know is, how does one go about imbedding a link into a jpeg file for the web? If not for a jpeg, then what type of file would I work within and what type of file would it have to be exported as? I'd like for the text and/or some of the objects within the image to be individual links, is this possible? Can it all be done within Photoshop?

Thanks in advance...

Creating slices out of the image and then hyperlinking either the slice you create or actually specifying in your code which coordiantes of the picture you want to hyperlink. For optimization I have always used the .png format for static parts of a webpage.

Thank you Holmes.
Now I know what to look for in reference, "slicing" for hyperlinking. In my years of Photoshopping and having images published for print and online, I've never once touched the slice tool, LOL! Looks like I'll be familiarizing myself with it now, this looks like it's going to open up a whole new world of possibilities. Thanks again...
