Hey all, I'm new to this site and the whole Photoshop and Adobe programs, and I just wanted to know how to make a certain backround and some cool text in front of it.

So here it is: I have a project for school due in a couple of weeks, it's a newpaper all about sports. Now, all I want to do is make somekind of backround ok a chalkboard with "x's" and "o's" on it, kinda like a playbook(the title of the newpaper). I would gladly accept any tips and suggestions. I'm not asking for anyone to do my project, just some advice to what i am looking for.

Btw, I'm am a complete newbie so please don't hold back on any harsh constructive critisim. Thank you.

You could make a black rectangle, give it a texture in layer styles>bevel/emboss>texture. Then use the font "eraser" for your text. Easy! you can even do a stroke emboss on another layer and give it a wood texture or a brown gradient on the stroke to look like the frame of the chalkboard. I did something similar for a news ad in Canada (below)
.
Good luck and have fun!
