COULD ANYONE POSSIBLY HELP WITH A LITTLE PROBLEM I HAVE?
I HAVE JUST RECENTLY JOINED THE WORLD OF PHOTOSHOP I HAVE LEARNED A LITTLE BIT, BUT I AM NOT YET USED TO ALL THESE NEW COMMANDS. A LOCAL PRINTERS THAT WE USE SUGESTED TO ME TO USE PHOTOSHOP AS HE SAID HE COULD THEN EDIT THE LAYERS OF MY DESIGN IF FOR EXAMPLE A COLOUR WAS'NT CORRECT ETC. SO I DESIGNED MY BIT OF WORK IN PHOTOSHOP CS, WHEN I GAVE THE PRINTERS THE ARTWORK I HAD DONE, HE COULD'NT SELECT THE LAYERS IN HIS PHOTOSHOP WHICH IS VERSION 7. ALTHOUGH I THOUGHT THAT THE PSD FORMAT WAS UNIVERSAL? HE IS ON MAC'S AND I AM ON A PC, BUT EVEN SO I TRIED TO OPEN THE ARTWORK I CREATED IN CS ON MY OTHER VERSION OF 7 AND I COULD'NT SELECT THE LAYERS EITHER, I ONLY SHOWED ME ONE LAYER SAYING BACKGROUND. HAVE I DONE SOMETHING WRONG? IS IT THAT CS IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH 7 OR DO I NEED TO CHANGE A SETTING? I WOULD PREFER TO DO MY WORK IN CS, BUT IF NEEDS BE I WOULD HAVE TO DO IT IN 7 INSTEAD. CAN ANYONE HELP? AM I ON THE RIGHT FORUM

KINDEST REGARDS

Sure, just tap the Caps Lock key. (Seriously, it is very hard to read a whole paragraphs written in all caps.)

As to your other problem. It should be possible… you have not given too many details.

I would check:
1-That the file was not sent over internet unzipped.
2. That they are running PS7.0.1, not just 7.0
3- (and my money is on this) You sent them a layered psd file in 16 Bits/Channel. PS 7 will open that as a flattened file. Go Image>Mode to see what bit-depth you have it set to. If it is 16 Bits/Channel, change it to 8 Bits/Channel.

Sorry for the CAPITALS i did'nt realise until I had a look at it myself.

You were absolutely right, the problem was that I had set it to 16bit instead of 8 bit and when I did a save test and then re-opened it in 7.0 I came up with the layer as well!!

You have made my day and now I can continue to use cs which I quite like.

Again thankyou very much, It's great to know that there are people out there that are willing to help

You're welcome Lupie. Glad it was an easy-to-solve problem.
