I'm sure there are many of us out there who don't feel at all "comfortable" with Adobe's policies.
This link:
http://store.adobe.com/store/products/master.jhtml?id=catCanon
in a nutshell means that if, and only if, you reside in the US or Canada and you've purchased a Canon camera that has Elements bundled with it you get the full CS for $299.
Subsequently, if you're not from the above nations - you are "privileged" with paying $1350 and get to read their anti-piracy policies at the bottom of the page.
Aside from trying to get through to Adobe on this and failing (Ever try sending these people an e-mail?), to add insult to injury I see they've persisted in their discrimi-"nation" tactics with CS2, even with the full price: $599 on the one hand and $1350 (inc. VAT) or thereabouts on the other.
Now, I wonder why there are so many illegal copies of Photoshop floating around Europe? _________________ m. |

I don’t see where you get the $1350 amount. The page you link to is just the Photoshop CS-2 upgrade discounted. Not the full CS package. |

The whole post spells it out, but anyway; here goes:
You've purchased a Canon article that comes with an Adobe Elements CD with its corresponding Serial Number.
Two choices:
A) You're an American or Canadian citizen, you click on the link and after spending $299 you're the proud owner of the full CS program.
B) You're not, and you live in Europe. There's no link to click on so you are charged the full whack of 899 EUROS plus VAT (e.g. in Spain @ 16%), that's $1348.50 (Today's exchange rate).
Thank you Adobe? I think not. _________________ m. |

The way I read it, the Canon upgrade is ONLY for Photoshop CS-2. I thinks you're confusing PSCS-2 with the whole suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and Acrobat package) |

I wouldn’t assume that this concerns an illegitimate copy of PS. The OP question concerned a legit offer by Adobe and Canon available only in the US and Canada to upgrade PS Elements to a full version of Photoshop. Unless I am misreading something,... again. |

On another forum I saw this comment which I agree with wholeheartedly as some of you may know by my reflections on their Lack of Worldwide Price Fairness.
"Bad news. I saw a press release this morning that Adobe is in the process of purchasing Macromedia. Now I am depressed."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My reply:
Bad and sad indeed. If there were any doubts as to my rantings and others' complaints not being heeded the slightest bit - there are definitely no bets in favour of a Better Service Plan after the merge in Autumn.
News has it that the new name has to be short and to the point, Adobe-Macromedia is thought to be obviously long-winded and too distant from the proposed aggressive in-your-face attitude towards the consumer. It is to be called TIOLI Corp. TIOLI being the perfect catchy acronym for Take It Or Leave It.
The interface, rather than a WYSIWYG outlay, is to be designed with WCYWWL in mind :- We Charge You What We Like.
Ho-hum,
