Well Lenny I’m running out of ideas. Usually the color engine setting is the culprit for what you describe.

Please double check with info palette to be sure you have a 255 RGB reading in your white areas.

Otherwise- broken Color Management or a printer setting issue? You do have the most recent driver for your printer? Yes?

When you refer to info palette do you mean in the colour settings? My printer was updated not to long ago and was working fine untill last weekend.--Lenny

No. The Info Palette. (Like Layers Palette, History Palette, Actions Palette, etc)
If you don’t see it, go Window>Info. Its a little palette that displayes the RGB numbers of any part of your image.

Drag any cursor over your picture and look at the RGB numbers displayed in this palette. If the white area of your image shows anything other than R:255, G:255, B:255, then it is not really white.

And that white background will print as "cream"? gosh, I'm at a loss.
If no one here has an answer, try posting at adobeforums.

Thanks for the trouble. I think I might uninstall everything and try a new install including plugins.-Lenny
