I haven’t heard that exact term, but I think you might be talking about opening the Curves dialog box and placing adjustment points along the curve by ctrl-clicking (Mac cmd-click) on the image. |

Sampling pixels on the curve is rather difficult yet easy to explain.
You can see which color is where on the curve and use this information to change the colors you want to change.. it allows for more control and knowledge about how your image will change when you use the curve.
I hope this makes sense to you.. like i said it's rather difficult to explain, yet it is simple.
