I spent alot of time working on some high quality flyers last week, only to find out today that these files should have been presented in Illustrator. I'm not an Illustrator person, in fact before I did this project I was only designing for the web.

These files were already late getting to printer, due to the tragic death of a friend last week, murdered by her husband. I was trying to deal with that while still working by a deadline.

Rather than feeling stressed out and overwhelmed at this point, I'm going to try hard to focus on the positive....which is having the opportunity to learn Illustrator, and hope for the best when it comes to getting these flyers printed in time.

I have 9 of them to do, 3 of them are front and back.

Here is my question, can anyone tell me what the easiest way is to transfer these files over to Illustrator? Mainly, the problem is with the text. Apparently Photoshop was turning the text into a bitmap when they went to print.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sorry to hear about the tragic death. DV is vile and appalling, yet all too common.
Anyway…
Have you tried just opening the psd file in AI?
Works here. You'll get a choice of flattening the image, or retaining layers and editable text. The latter, I assume, is what you want.

PS and ILL should work together to an extent.

If all else fails you could always try saving the PS file as a PS PDF.
Then open the PDF with ILL. It may convert the text to vector..??

I hope things work out for you.
Here's a tip, when you finally save the finished work, save it as an EPS file. Ill and PS will both save as either ILL EPS or PS EPS. This will help with portability/compatibility.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, and loss.
