I Can't set curves preferences for Highlights

I am working on a PC. I am using values from "The Photoshop book for digital photographers"
I am able to double click on black eye dropper tool in curves and set RGB to 20-20-20 click OK and lock those values in.

When I attemp to set Curve Preferences of Highlights (this is where the problem is) with highlight dropper at 240-240-240 the HSB changes to H-0 S-0 B-94% and the L a b becomes L-95, a-0 b-0 . The CMYK also changes to C-4 M3 Y-3 K-0.

According to the book the value for highlight should be:
H-0 S-0 B-100% R-240 G-240 B-240 L-100 a-0 b-0 C-0 M-0 Y-0 K-0

I am able to adjust the Shadow and Midtones fine. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not too sure on this one
RGB set at 255,255,255 (pure white) will give the readings that you are getting.

It coulld be misprint in your book

CYMK all set to 0 is absence of colour, so I can't see how 240,240, 240 RGB is pure white

Am I missing something here?

Ted
