i have always wanted to ask about the difference in image presentation on my G3 as opposed to the home setup I have;
two G5's with two 23 inch apple displays. This might be an idiotic question but there are no such things as idiotic questions are there? I let this question slide many years cos i only use the G3 on long trips around the world for storage & internet.
All my web/ professional photography is done at home on the G5's with "picture" perfect representation on my 23 inch panels.

now i need to continue creating my web site away from home as i work one night away from home.
I have since 1999 noticed that the G3 gets brighter the higher you move the screen. there is no fixed frame of reference. It is hard to judge the photo since it looks differently depending on the position of the screen.
At home my 2 23inch moniters do not move, there is consistency
in lighting, contrast, brightness etc... so when i put a photo on the web it is very similar to the one i uploaded from my G5.
if i take a photo adjusted on the G3 it looks different/bad on the apple display. The resolution on the G3 is 1024 X 768.
I cannot trust this moving screen to judge my photos for final imaging uploading etc...
I now must have that facility and will be purchasing the G4 pbook 1.67 15inch very soon.
How do you all work professionally in pshop CS with this movable screen seeing that the lbrightness shifts resolution is low and how do you know that your manipulations to the image are faithful ones that would match up to and look close to those on the desktop computers with fixed monitors?
am i supposed to calibrate the G3 to the G5?
how in heavens do you all do this if the screen moves & such so does the brightness change.

Any advice opinions or clarification would help.
