|
|
Hi all,
I'm trying to open NEF files and even though I've updated the camera raw pluging with the newest version, it's still not working. The file is from a D70.
This is just so I can open these files from someone else, I'm not working with a nikon so i'm it's not worth it to me to get the Nikon capture software. I just want PS CS to open them.
So why would the latest version of ACR not open them?
Thanks for any suggestions. |

i believe you need capture installed, then you can open it in adobe. capture is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH, better than adobe, in anycase, use that. if you are not regulary going to be using a nikon, get the capture 30 days free trial.
also, if your not needing capture's capabilities, why shoot in RAW ? jpeg is perfectly fine. |

I use raw from my canon for my high end print selling, but I was just trying to get the nef to open. I already looked into getting the Nikon capture trial. In the end I will have to just use jpgs, I was just trying to get this to work so I could have total control over the images that are coming from the nikon.
oh well.

well what do you want NEF for ? if your looking to keep the HIGH quality for selling prints, you need capture. its the best for quaity. pshop wont cut it.
if not, might as well shoot jpeg. |

I'm doing a website for a friend who's a photographer. He shoots with a Nikon D70. I was simply trying to access his raw files so that I could tweak them the way I wanted to without the camera interfering like they do when you make jpgs with them.
Overall, it's not a big deal. I was just frustrated that I couldn't open them with just the PS plug in. |
