I'm using Photoshop 7 and a fairly standard scanner, and am having huge problems trying to scan in black-and-white line art for a webcomic I draw.
If I scan at a nasty resolution - 96dpi, for instance - the image comes up on screen about actual size, but obviously looks all pixellated and horrible. If, however, I ramp up the resolution to something more acceptable - 1200dpi, for instance - in order to get a smoother, nicer-looking image, it comes up on screen about fifty times original size or more. Therefore, in order to get an image that actually fits on my screen, I have to downsize it - which makes it all jaggy and pixellated again.
Now this may seem obvious, but I'm sure I'm missing something. Surely there must be a way I can just get a nice, smooth, accurate representation of the drawing that's roughly the same size as it is on paper? |
