I think this is a noob question, as it seems pretty obvious, but I can't find it anywhere, including the help files. How does one make the rectangle tool just create a hollow rectangle (pixels around your selection, without filling it up) I just need to make a hollow rectangle repeatedly, preferably without using the line tool.

Use the stroke-option (edit / stroke) This will give you a line where you have you're rectangle selection

Thanks, I'll try that if there aren't any other options. What i meant was is there an alternate method, that doesn't involve the stroke command, that achieves the same effect?

Edit: I just tried using the stroke command on another layer, but what do I do to make a hollow rectangle? I tried the Inside, Outside, and Center options, but center just made it slightly thicker, and inside/outside just make a rectangle (that's solid) If it matters, the rectangles i need are pretty small.

Select your rectangle layer with the stroke on it and make the Fill 0%.
