Hi all. I am in the process of shopping parts for a new pc build which will include both photoshop 7 and premiere 6.5. I am a little unsure as to what ram to buy. pc3200?? pc4400?? I know that i want 1 gb but i don't really know what the differences are. How important is low latency when working with photoshop?? or is it the amount of ram that is most important?? since i will be working with premiere, i assume my graphics card purchase would be wise to include a 256mb ram, right?? i have read so much on the subject and seem to get different opinions from different sources. i basically want photoshop and premiere to run at their maximal speeds and abilities. Thanks in advance.

You'll use whatever memory your motherboard supports. Anything a gig and higher will run photoshop very smoothly. Having a lot of free hard drive space will be an issue for you as well if you're doing a lot with video. You may want to get two hard drives.

i have 512 of some 3 yr old kind, pc-2100 or something, and i run PS fine.

Dont get anything above PC-3200 unless you plan on OCing your system.

If i were building one right now, i'd get 1gb of pc-3200. you can find it on newegg for about $140.

i run 2 gigs of 3200 ultra ram, with a 250 gig hard drive on 2 partitions. photoshop (when its installed), runs like a freakin dream.
everyone else is right though. ive seen it run on 1 gig, and that was just peachy.
