Batch renaming goes OK but cant open file in PS CS

put folder in file browser
selected the documents
contextual menu
then went to rename documents
wrote angkortrees ext>serial 1
got good results on all documents
TREESANGKOR.jpg 1
TREESANGKOR.jpg 2
TREESANGKOR.jpg 3
TREESANGKOR.jpg 4
TREESANGKOR.jpg 5
TREESANGKOR.jpg 6
TREESANGKOR.jpg 7
TREESANGKOR.jpg 8
TREESANGKOR.jpg 9
but each document wont open
go to get info some say document
some say unix
what gives????
im using ps CS mac OS X.3.7 2.5GHZ G5?
cant open the documents
is there an easier name changing batch app that works better
i cant see spending all night fixing a definitely non broken computer
