|

I recently formatted my C drive. But my catalog and pictures were on another partition.
When I reinstalled photoshop and opened the catalog all the photos that are offline have a big question mark displayed. Before I formatted the hard drive I could see all my thumbnails just fine.
Anyone know why this happened and what I need to do to see the thumbnails correctly again?
I tried reconnecting but it won't let me navigate to my cd drive.

are you on windows?
here are a few things to try.
click properties, and see what program they use to open, make sure to select photoshop.
also rename one of them with the extension .psd
and if you havn't installed photoshop yet that could be a problem too.

Well I've already got photoshop installed. And I am using Windows. BTW, does adobe run on linux?
But, the thumbnails I was referring to are in the photo browser of adobe organizer. I can only see them for the pictures stored on the HD. The ones on CD have a question mark. They were there before I formatted the HD and reinstalled everything.

Two things come to mind, one is if you reformated your drive you may have lost the photos on it, and the other is you say you can't see your CD drive, have you reinstalled the drivers for the CD? that may be your problem. I'm seeing a PC tech later today, I'll ask his advice and get back to you if it makes any sense. Wayne

Let me back up. Here's the situation before I formatted the hard drive. I had about 900 pictures on the hard drive all of which had been imported into the organizer and tagged. I could see all the thumbnails for all pictures in the photo browser in the organizer. I decided I would transfer most of the pictures to a CD. I used photoshop to do this so then it marked those pictures with a little CD symbol in the corner. Everything was good.
Then I reformatted the hard drive. All drivers are installed correctly. All software works fine. When I open photoshop now I still see spaces in the photo browser for all 900 pictures. However, now I can only see the pictures in the photo browser of the ones on the hard drive. The ones that I exported to CD have a question mark where the picture should be. All the tags are still in place, just can't see the picture.
I've attached a screen shot to show you. The pictures at the top are on the HD. But the pictures with question marks are on CD as you can see from the symbol.
Hope this makes my situation a little clearer.
