Something has gone awry and certain programs in the CS4 Suite no longer launch. These include Photoshop, Photoshop elements, and Lightroom. Illustrator and Fireworks work normally. The programs begin to load, but never reach the first screen. The Windows "xxx has encountered a problem and must close ..." error reporting window appears.

Any diagnostic ideas?
