Tip: Change Background Color of the Space Surrounding Your Document

Want to change the color of the gray area surrounding your document? No problem!

1) Open any image and make sure it's maximized inside Photoshop.

2) Make your forground color the color you'd like to change your background color to. In this case we'll choose black. So you should have a black foreground color now.

3) Get your paint bucket tool, hold Shift and click in the gray area around your document.

Now every document you open will have that color surrounding it (only if it's maximized or larger than the actual image inside Photoshop).

This can be useful if you'd like to see your artwork matted against a color other than gray. You can also use it as sort of a stlye for Photoshop.

Hope this one was a winner! Big Grin

If you want to set it back to before but forget the shade of grey, it's 75%. However I reccomend using 50% grey as a rule. Especially if you have your computer colour calibrated.
