Can I "paint" color on B&W photo ? When I try, only the grey scale colors seem available to the brush. Help appreciated. Using version 5.0.

well ur image will start out greyscale, since its a black n white, when you start a new file under the image size, chang eht e"color mode" to RBG color, if its already a saved document youmight want to "crtl+c" then start a new document and change the properties to RBG color, then "crtl+v" the new document

You could also just change the colorspace of the image to RGB. Then paint on layers above the original and play with the color layers' opacity and blending modes for various effects.
