I am trying to find out if there is a way in photoshop to optimize a bunch of tiff files in a folder to jpegs at the same time. I have about 260 tiff images different sizes I need to optimize them to jpegs. Any body know how to do that?

Hi reneene, are you using Photoshop CS2? Coz there's an easier way of doing that using that version. But if you're using a lower version, creating an action and batch processing it is the best way. I could teach you both. |

Go to File>Scripts>Image Processor. A dialogue box will appear with numbered steps:
1) Select the images to process (locate the folder where you saved the tiff images. It should only contain the 260 tiff files you want to convert to JPEG)
2) Select the location to save processed images (I usually choose “Save in Same Location”)
3) File Type (Choose “Save as JPEG” and input your desired quality)
You could skip Step 4.
Then click on the button “Run” at the upper right corner of the dialogue box. After you click it, the dialogue box will disappear and photoshop will start to process the images. It would take a while because you have 260 tiff files! While waiting, you could take a break, have a coffee, sleep, watch TV or if it was me, play NBALive06. : )
After the process, check the folder where you saved the files and you’ll find a folder named “JPEG”. That's it!
I hope I was of help. : ) -babs |
