No color on CS5?!

This may sound like a silly question, but I'm a little confused.

I've just installed CS5, and for some reason I can't get any color. When I open up a new file, the only colors I can get in the FG/BG boxes are black, white, and greyscale versions of any other color I try. The only channel in the channels box is Grey. I really don't know what to do, can anyone help?

Check Image-Mode: Are you in grayscale mode?
