Hello - I am using Photoshop 7.0 and have been asked to change the background on several images. I am able to select the area, using the magic wand and Shift, I want to replace but how do I go about doing that? Is there a way to select that area and then import a picture or move a background from one image to another?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

create a new image with whatever background that you want, then taking the image with the background that needs replacing, select the objects you want to keep. The pen tool would work much better for it....just google up some pen tool tutorials, once you have made a path, go to the work paths tab (next to the layer tabs) right click, make selection, then copy it and paste on the other image with the new background.

Its going to be for a Photo Directory. There are about 100 images of everyones pictures and for some reason the background is different on alot of them. Would this be the fastest way to get it done?

I see that Adobe has a 30 day trial for CS 2.0. I wonder if its easier with the newer version? I'm sure there is added functionality. I'm going to see if its maybe an easier process with CS 2.0. Thanks

CS2 does have some new features, but for what your doing here it won't really make much difference, create a new background the size and colour/patten you need, then select the background of your photo(the bit you want removed), then select/inverse and select/feather 2 pixles (this depends a bit on the size of your images) then edit/copy, now click on your new background and edit/paste, just use the move tool to place it where you want by dragging it around. This should copy the important part across onto the new background, the feather softens the edge slightly and make it look more natural. Wayne

After some tinkering with CS 2.0 I found a way that will also work. You create your background that you want and make sure its the same size as your image. Using the Magic Wand select the background area on the image. Then copy your background and Paste it INTO the selected image you want the new background on. Seemed to work pretty good.
