in the apple ipod commercials they have a background color then one image solid black, i was wondering how you could do that in photoshop?

its a sord of vector style, its just background color would be easy

then making the person or thng into one color, cut them out and then in blending options you can set it to the color you want

i'm sure theres other ways, search tutorials here

I'm not quite sure what you're saying :). But I think I have an idea, I think they just cut out the person/scene then feather it a bit, and then desaturate/colorize/darken it. Sorry if that makes no sense :), if so, just do what Tidal says and go to g-t :).

It's really an exercise in good masking - learn different methods of channel masking and associated and a good reference photo with a clear distinction between subject and background helps.
