Actually, I'm not a beginner but I don't use PS that often. That's the reason I'm still in PS 7.

Recently when I open a "New File" it opens up as a slice. How can I correct that. I don't want to work with slices. How can I open a new file in the default setting?

Thanks!!!

Sincerely,

Ilka Flood

When you open a new file does it have a few option tabs across the top? saying things like 4 up? Wayne

Thank you, Wayne, for trying to help me! I truly appreciate it.

No...it doesn't have option taps across the top. I am NOT in Image Ready. I'm in Photoshop7. I have no clue what's going on. I even uninstalled PS and then reinstalled it again hoping it would open a new file in default, but it still opens a new file in slice mode (or whatever you call it.)

The new file has the 01and the other little slice icon (looks like a rectangle with a tryangle and a half) in the top left corner.

I can't seem to replicate this at all, have you tried trashing preferences? hold down ctrl + alt +shift as soon as PS starts to load up, uninstalling wont do this (for some reason) and it often cures odd problems. Wayne

Wayne's suggestion of toasting your preferences should do it, but I think all you may have to do is go to View/Show/ and deselect Slices.
