need help randomizing a pattern

I want to create a repeating pattern that resembles digital camo. However, I want all the tiny little squares and spaces to be made of the same image, instead of just colored squares. Is there a way to define an image as a pattern, and then have then have the pattern fill a space but have it tile and randomize?
