Well, I am looking for an explosion for a logo. I have been using one of the explosions from one of the tutorials, and it looks ok, but it still isn't what I had in mind. I have viewed dozens of tutorials, and I think the problem is that most of the explosions in the tuts look too real. I am looking for something more comic bookish, but not too much so. As this is for a small site selling R/C products, I thought it might be cool to have a remote control car, plane, boat, or all three coming out of the blast, with the logo somehow in the blast. I would pay to have a graphics designer do it for me, but we aren't making much money yet, and I can't afford it. I would be eternally grateful for any help or ideas.

The easiest way is to probably copy a comic book explosion, I haven't a comic book here to work from so I guessed something, I made a selection with the pologonal lasso then filled it with yellow, then I added a new layer (leaving the selection open) I could then fill the selection with red/orange circular gradient, then I erased a few edges to show the yellow thruugh, finally I added some radial blur (using the zoom setting) it's not fantastic, but it's a starting point idea for you.
Another option is to create a realistic explosion, and run a cartoon action on it, you can find a few here http://share.studio.adobe.com/axBrowseProductType.asp?t=5 They are all free, you do have to register, but you don't get any spam etc, I have had some good actions from here. Wayne
