Hi
I am new to the forum. I recently purchased CS6 with the aide of a generous gift voucher from Amazon.

Yesterday I watched a tutorial on Adobe TV by Julieanne Kost on making a tryptich. (using layers) It looked easy enough but actually a lot more complex when you come to actually do it in practice. So I watched the video again, taking notes until I had the whole thing written down.

There were a few problems though. The first was where JK used the
'arrange documents' icon. I dont have one. Indeed the whole toolbar with those icons is missing from my layout, and I cannot find how to display it (I am using the 64 bit version). I found arrange documents options in the menu

Next problem was where JK invoked the zoom tool to zoom all the images together using 'z' + shift + alt. Doesn't work for me. Again not a show stopper though.

Then she cropped one image, cleared the options in the crop tool options bar and pressed the 'front image' button I dont have this button on my crop tool options. So I skipped the cropping bit.

The remainder of the tutorial went OK and everything else worked as JK described. Any ideas about the three odd discrepencies I encountered ?

* arrange documents icon missing
* no synchronised zoom.
* No 'front image' button in crop toll options.

Regards
John

For the crop problem unless it's an issue with the extended edition being needed, I would guess that in CS6 they have hidden it in the context sensitive tool bar. Where it says unconstrained in the dropdown choose size and resolution and set the crop to the active image.

Match zoom for all windows is under the Windows>Arrange>Match Zoom, you won't be surprised to find the arrange documents there too! ;)

Oh and welcome to the forum, by the way the title of the post shows a little ineptitude :)

Julieanne's tutorials aren't really for beginners. If you're new to Photoshop I suggest you start here:

Thanks for taking the time to answer these. I'd still like to know how to invoke the tool bar with the icons (such as 'arrange windows'). Surely thats not exclusive to the extended version ?

I realised the typo "inaptitude" only after having submitted my questions. I think it shows aptitude for that kind of ineptitude.

Thanks again
John
