when I set guides and then try to use markee tool to select the area defined by guides, sometimes, Photoshop CS2 selects the area that is one pixel larger than the area defined by guides, either to the top, bottom, left or right. Does anybody on this forum had a similar problem and if yes, how did you deal with it.

Not offhand, have you go View>SnapTo>Guides on?
