I have a dark image that I need to make light so that I can add color to it. It needs to retain its contrast. I was able to do it by fiddling around with some different things, but somehow when I get it lightened the highlights and shadows always reverse.
Thanks |

The easiest way to deal with dark needing to get light, is to use the Brightness/Contrast tool, located at Image, Adjustments. |

Try Color Balance.
Unclick Preserve Luminosity, move the color bars equally (50,50,50). You can effect Shadows, Midtones and Highlights seperately this way. |
