Hi there.

Would there be some reason that my layer effects aren't working?

It seems that no matter what effect i select, it has no effect on the layer..

Wierd.

You have to have something on the layer to work it on. Try this, create a new document 5x7 300dpi white, then use the text tool to add a word in black (thats important) now alter the text layer blend mode to screen, that makes the letter vanish (it's still there just hidden) now try adding your layer effects, add the drop shadow and you should see the shadow only or whatever (I used drop shadow and bevel emboss here the text is invisible itself) Wayne
