Hey, I am pretty new to Photoshop (started using it yesterday), but I have already learned many things about it, though for most I am still in the dark.

So, my problem is: On at least 2 tutorials that I have attempted, they have told me to Layer Blend: Lighten, but everytime that I do that, the whole area where the picture is turns completely white, and it does not change back to the picture untill the Lighten Blend is removed.

So, my question is: What am I doing wrong? I follow the tutorial step by step all the way and I even try going on with the screen completely blank but nothing ever happens except whiteness.

Thanks

By the way, I have Photoshop CS 8

I think Datameister has it covered in your other thread.

It's hard to say, without being able to see what the layer your lightening looks like. Perhaps you're selecting lighten from the wrong place, as there are many places you can select blending modes. it sounds to me like you should be selecting your blend mode from the layers palette. if you were selecting it in the tool options or layer styles options it is possible that something undesirable could be happening.

perhaps you could post a link o the tutorial, and mention which step stuff fouls up on?

by the way, photoshop cs 8 doesn't exist yet. You're probably on just phootoshop 8.

Welcome to the forum, sorry I can't help more.

Hello,

As you already have a thread for this problem, I am going to close this one and send you over there.
