Hello. I am new to this board and extremely new to Photoshop. I have a digital camera and keep it at a pretty high resolution, so I never run into issues like this when trying to print pictures. I have a minimun knowledge on resolutions, pixels, etc., but think that the picture I have attached (which was taken by a friend on her digital camera) was taken at too low of a resolution to be able to print out. Is there anything that can be done with this picture so I can print it out at a 5 x 7 size? Thank you so much.

I've never heard of a camera taking a picture at 48dpi. The size of that picture is 6x4, but if you print it out it looks terrible because the resolution is so low. If you have that same picture in 150dpi - 300dpi at 6x4, then it will print great.
In other words, if that's the only copy you have, there isn't much you can do to get a quality print out of it.

Thanks so much for your reply. That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping there was some Photoshop Magic that could accomplish my task, though. I did not have my camera with me at the time (which is very unusual), and now I wish I had. Pictures from my camera will print up to poster size with great quality. Oh well. I thought 48 dpi was pretty low, although when I looked at my pictures, they were at 70-something dpi. My resolution is set pretty high on the camera, though. Thank you again.

Did you change that picture at all before you posted it on this forum?

No, that's exactly how it was e-mailed to me. I fiddled with a copy of it in Photoshop, but didn't do anything to the original. Oh well. Now I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt why I keep my camera set at high resolutions!

I can't believe there's actually a camera that will take a picture at 48dpi... Impressive.

I didn't even pay attention to what kind of camera she was using, but I must say -- impressive isn't the word I would use right about now!
